With legendary sci-fi film Star Wars making its Nintendo debut, it's no surprise to see it gracing this issue's cover. As the title suggests, it follows the events of the first film in the saga, with the player navigating Luke Skywalker through familiar film locations in order to rescue Princess Leia and destroy the Death Star. However, this version would eventually be overshadowed by Super Star Wars on the SNES.
Another game of note in this issue was the NES port of Maniac Mansion. In this point-and-click title, players guided a group of teenagers through a mansion in the hope of rescuing the main character's girlfriend. Although otherwise well-received, the NES version was infamous for being heavily censored, with various graphic scenes and suggestive text removed. Unfortunately for UK fans, this included the ability to microwave a hamster, which had previously been left in most copies of the US version by accident.
