Vol. 1 Issue 3

Volume 1 - Issue 3

The game on this issue's cover was Rush'N Attack (also known as Green Beret), a Cold War-themed arcade adventure in which players must find and destroy a secret weapon being developed by the Russian army. Compared with the arcade game on which it was based, the NES version included two new stages, some new power-ups, and a two-player co-op mode, making it seem more like an expansion of the original game than a bog-standard port.

In fact, there seemed to be an 'action game' theme running throughout this whole issue! Gun.Smoke and Ikari Warriors were both overhead shooters with bullets galore, Ghosts 'N Goblins and Kid Icarus brought sidescrolling action to supernatural and mythical worlds, and Mega Man and Trojan gave players action-packed glimpses into the future. Robowarrior stands out merely for the hero using his bombs to explore mazes and solve puzzles as well as dispatch enemies.
