Vol. 5 Issue 2

Volume 5 - Issue 2

Given its use and promotion as a showcase for the power of the new Super FX Chip, it's no surprise that Starwing appears as this issue's cover feature. The game would be highly praised not just for its graphics, but also its challenging gameplay, its soundtrack, and the introduction of the Star Fox team to Nintendo's selection of mascots - Fox, Peppy, Slippy, and Falco.

Starwing's arrival almost overshadows the GB and NES line-ups, which included the NES - and SNES - versions of Parodius and the GB version of Mega Man II. Readers were also treated to previews of Mega Man 4 and cult gem Gargoyle's Quest II, among others. Tucked away within the SNES pages was Mario Paint, Nintendo's first foray into art software, most commonly remembered nowadays for its limited, but unique, music editor.
